Chapter Four

Matthew 4:20

Immediately they left their nets and followed him.

So you have decided to follow Jesus. You have given your life to the Creator. But what do you do with it? Jesus gave us a simple order. Go out and spread His word, His truth. Spread the word and bear fruit.

In Mark 4, Jesus tells the Parable of the Sower. Basically the sower sows seeds, and the seed is God's word. And we are the plants, but how we grow depends on our soil. The soil represents our hearts. Good soil hears the word and bears fruit (meaning: we spread the word to others, and they accept the word and spread it and so on and so forth). Bad soil hears the word and rejects it.

Mark 4:20

But those that were sown on the good soil are the ones who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.

Most people will refer to the Sower as Jesus, but something my bible points out is that the Sower could be anyone who preaches the word.
So I have accepted the Word. And now I try to bear fruit by writing this blog, and putting what I write to practice. So I pray now people will also take the seeds I have sown and continue to bear fruit as well.

And although we may be looked down upon for what we do we must think back to the days when the church was first started...
Peter and John were charged not to speak or teach in the name of Jesus.
Their reply:

Acts 4:19-20

"Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than God, you must judge, 20 for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard."

I know ESV can be a little confusing sometimes (I switched from NIV), but basically all they said was, "Dude, we know what we saw. And we're going to preach it, teach it, and sing of Jesus' greatness. Because hey, we can't help it."

And while we may not have had the pleasure of walking with Jesus in person, and witnessing the resurrection.... We still have the promise. We still have God's word.

Romans 4:20
(speaking of Abraham)
No distrust made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God,

Abraham had a lot going on in his life... He was really really really old and had not had a child. But God promised him a child. And he remained faithful, and low and behold, Sarah is pregnant.

Jesus made us a promise that He would return someday. And few of us are able to remain faithful at times... But in days like these its hard not to look to heaven and say "Wow... it looks like Jesus is about to return!"

So we must stand strong in our faith, and continue to sow seeds and bear fruit.
Its one thing to talk the talk I know. And thats why I pray we all keep each other accountable. Because it is one thing for me to write a blog about Fighting Statistics and another to do it.

1 Corinthians 4:20

For the kingdom of God does not consist of talk but in power.

So keep fighting, because you never know the day or hour that Jesus will return. So remember to continue showing Love for all things, and to stay accountable.
